Our Christian Vision

Life at St Margaret’s is enriched in the vision and values that we endorse and instil – from child to support staff to teaching staff and leadership. Our vision and values are based around the mission statement, as well as the St Margaret’s Christian Values and British Values. All of which is centred on the teachings of the Bible.

Our vision is based on Proverbs 22:6 ‘Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.’

St Margaret’s C of E Primary School Mission Statement: ‘Training children to be confident, independent learners with enquiring minds, a life-long love of learning and an approach to life that reflects core biblical values and principles.

Our Christian Values of love, joy, patience, kindness and self-control are based on the fruits of the spirit, found in: Galatians 5:22-23

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.’

We teach and support the children at St Margaret’s, hand-in-hand with our families, to follow our Christian ethos throughout all aspects of their lives.

In addition, following our British Values has helped us to consider who we are and it has helped us to define what makes our country such a special one. The fundamental British values (according to Ofsted) that we follow and teach about are:

  • Democracy
  • The rule of law
  • Individual liberty
  • Mutual respect for
  • Tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs and none

At St Margaret’s we uphold these core values and along with our own set of Values aim to instil these in our children, teachers and the wider community. This is to ensure children become valuable and fully rounded members of society who treat others with respect and tolerance, regardless of background; that young people understand the importance of respect and leave school fully prepared for life in modern Britain. We teach our children the importance and significance of these British Values throughout the curriculum and, in particular through PHSE (Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education) lessons.
